Preracer turns selected real races into tactical resource-management games people can play before race day. Players move through the course one situation at a time: take the gel or save it, chase the pacer or let them go, stop for the runner being sick at the roadside or keep your time. Sugar, water, legs and morale carry the cost of every decision. The first version runs on Garmin watches.

The point is not that the choices look hard. It is that the wrong choice often looks reasonable at the time. A decision made early can settle the race much later, when you have almost forgotten making it. Preparation beforehand sets your starting reserves and leaves marks of its own, so two runs of the same course are not the same race. Morale has a special role: keep your head in the race and physical resources last longer; let it drop and sugar, water and legs drain faster.

A course in Preracer is not a line on a map. It has landmarks, history and a stretch that everybody complains about afterwards. During the pilot phase, every race is authored and calibrated hands-on, translating what an organiser knows about the route into a pre-race experience for participants. Race-specific stories, landmarks and partner moments can become part of the game when they belong naturally in the course.

Preracer's first release is free for runners and runs offline on Garmin watches, with no phone, no account and no signal. It runs within roughly 508KB of usable application heap on the tightest supported device and includes two full courses.
